Business English coaching and ESL instruction from an American educator with two decades of financial services, coaching, and corporate training experience. One-on-one. Online. Worldwide.
I spent my career walking into broken systems and fixing them — a struggling bank investment program, a sports team with chemistry problems, a student at a career crossroads, a professional trying to operate confidently in American business culture.
I started as an ESL tutor at California State University, Fresno, moved to the football field as a defensive coach at Lake Oswego High School for 12 years while managing the Dairy Department at a retail grocery chain, then spent nearly two decades in financial services — rising to Executive VP, earning FINRA Series 7, 63, 65, and 24 licenses, and building training programs in investment products, sales, and customer service.
I'm also a certified EMT-2, which taught me something more valuable than medicine: how to triage, stay calm in complexity, and make good decisions under pressure. I authored a business curriculum used at the college level covering negotiation, goal-setting, investing, and customer service.
For the past 10+ years I've coached professionals, executives, and students worldwide — online, one-on-one, across cultures. My students have come from Korea, Japan, China, Italy, Belarus, Bosnia, Argentina, Guatemala, Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, and beyond.
Long-term, relationship-based English instruction for young learners. Tailored to age, level, and learning style. Many of my children's students have been enrolled for 5+ years — their parents become my most trusted referrers.
Conversation, pronunciation, vocabulary & idioms, and fluency — tailored to your goals and current level. Whether you're continuing after an immersive program or starting fresh, we build from where you are.
For executives, managers, and professionals operating in US-facing roles. Negotiation, interviews, presentations, career positioning, and workplace communication — taught by someone who has sat at both sides of the table.
An Italian executive secretary for a London-based international hotel chain. We worked together over multiple years developing her professional English, business communication, and executive presence — navigating the nuances of British corporate culture from the inside.
Weekly coaching sessions navigating the nuances of the business world as much as the English language. Boutique investment firm in Shanghai, then major hotel chain marketing department — two completely different business cultures, with interview preparation and transferable skill positioning throughout. Now running her own company in Hong Kong.
An Argentinian web designer building a US client base. Coached business development, client negotiation, professional positioning, and the cultural calibration required to work confidently with American clients. Seven years of weekly sessions — until he retired on his own terms.
He really focuses on the student's need and provides tailored lessons. I learned not only English but also actual expertise in finance. I highly recommend him.
That's really cool when you can get business knowledge while learning English. Charlie is a talented teacher and a business coach — extremely easy to communicate with.
I have taken 10 classes thus far and highly recommend Charlie if you are a professional looking to improve your English.
He changed my mindset through his hands-on business experience. I enjoy every lesson with him!
Teacher Charlie has worked with Chinese students for over a decade — children, professionals, and executives. Lucy, his longest-running student, began at age 6 and is now 17. Her mother's referrals have brought multiple families into Teacher Charlie's classes.
I deliver Customer Service Excellence and Business Negotiation workshops for teams and organizations. Let's talk about what your team needs.
Every new student begins with a free 30-minute trial class. No commitment, no pressure. Just a conversation to understand where you are and where you want to go.
Tell me where you are with your English and what you're trying to achieve. I'll tell you honestly whether I can help — and if I can, we'll start right there.
